Artful Expressions

I was once inspired to paint a mandarin duck flying through the rain as a gift for someone. At first, the idea of painting a duck did not seem particularly refined. Yet as I explored further, I discovered that the mandarin duck is celebrated for its striking beauty, especially the richness and brilliance of its colours. The image began to carry a deeper meaning for me — a reminder that there is beauty in strength: in the one who is not deterred by the rain, but moves forward with courage and quiet tenacity, facing life’s challenges head on.

Preschool children are a big part of my life. I often share my painting process and engage them in collaborative art projects. Children see the world through wonderfully different lenses and express themselves with a freedom that adults tend to lose. Their colours are bold, their ideas spontaneous, and their creations often appear delightfully unpredictable. Yet, within this uninhibited creativity, they open a window into a world of joy, imagination, and boundless energy — reminding us that beauty is often found in the most unexpected places.
